Srirangam

Srirangam is a historic temple town located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It’s renowned for its Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, which is one of the largest temple complexes in India and is dedicated to Lord Ranganatha, a reclining form of the Hindu deity Vishnu. The temple is situated on an island formed by the Kaveri River and its tributaries.
The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus and attracts devotees from all over the world. The temple complex is vast and comprises seven enclosures or prakaras, with numerous intricately carved pillars, shrines, halls, and gopurams (towering gateways). The architecture of the temple is a stunning example of Dravidian style, with its towering gopurams adorned with colorful sculptures depicting various mythological stories.

Tiruvannaikovil

Tiruvanaikoil, also known as Thiruvanaikaval, is another significant temple town located near Srirangam in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is famous for its Jambukeswarar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is one of the Pancha Bhoota Stalas, representing the element of water (Jala), and is considered one of the holiest Shiva temples in Tamil Nadu.

Thirupattur

Saibaba temple

Kallanai

Kallanai was originally constructed by the Chola king Karikalan around the 2nd century CE. The primary purpose of the dam was to divert water from the Kaveri River for irrigation purposes, thus facilitating agriculture in the fertile delta region of Tamil Nadu. The dam was designed with sluice gates and canals to regulate the flow of water, ensuring efficient distribution to the surrounding agricultural lands.
The construction of Kallanai is considered a remarkable feat of ancient engineering and architecture. The dam has withstood the test of time and remains functional to this day, providing water for irrigation to the region’s farmers.
